  1. WAITING FOR THE PARADE really speaks to me about enjoying and accepting aging. I have a a straw river rafter’s hat and Hawaiian shirts that I wear in summer, a fold up lawn chair and friends that I go paint and draw with. Whether or not the parade ever comes, the waiting is not spent in vain and for me the word “closed” seems to act as parentheses on the word “friends”. Technically the photo is just beautiful. I don’t know how you got it but it seems to be a time exposure where the street was empty, then it wasn’t . I love that the lines go through the figures, it gives a sense of motion which normally we read from left to right but here distant bodies are moving opposite and that rule is broken to give a feel of movement in both directions. And now I see, (after REALLY close examination!) that it is a composite, how wonderful! The hats are definitely the crowning glory, pun intended . . . for me this blue is a perfect color choice , I have no idea why except that perhaps it initiates a dream like state –the level of consciousness in waiting which is made so much more tolerable, even enjoyable when with others. The black on upper right & lower left creates masking that reminds me of a memory — not always crystal-clear and I really, really like it– I don’t know why. It just wouldn’t be the same wothout it.

    • Wow, Carolyn. That is exactly the feeling that I was going for. Thanks for such great feedback and stay tuned for more blog posts.
